Why I'm Running
A letter to the people of North Vancouver — on what I believe, what I've seen, and why this moment matters.
To the residents of North Vancouver —
I've spent a lot of time thinking about what to say here. Not because I don't know why I'm running — I do, clearly — but because I want to be honest with you about what kind of candidate I am, and what kind of councillor I intend to be.
So let me start simply: I'm running because I love this city, and because I think it deserves better than the status quo.
North Vancouver has real strengths. We have remarkable natural surroundings, strong community institutions, and neighbourhoods where people genuinely know each other. We have a civic culture that cares. That's not something you take for granted — and it's worth fighting to protect and build on.
But we also have real pressures. The cost of living is squeezing families and pushing younger residents out. The gap between what residents want from their city and what city hall delivers can feel frustratingly wide. And too often, the people who are most affected by local decisions are the least likely to feel like they have a seat at the table.
Local government should feel close. It should feel like yours. I want to be the kind of councillor who makes that real.
I've spent years working in public policy and community organizing. I've seen how decisions get made — and I've seen how much better those decisions are when they're grounded in real community input, not just reports and projections. I've seen what happens when government listens, and I've seen what happens when it doesn't.
I want to bring that experience — and that belief — to city hall.
What I believe about local government
I believe that city council should be the most accessible layer of government in people's lives. Not the most remote. Not the most procedural. The most present.
I believe residents shouldn't need to be policy experts to have their voices matter. A good councillor translates between what residents need and what the system can deliver — and they hold the system accountable when it falls short.
I believe that North Vancouver's future depends on it remaining a place where people across income levels, ages, and backgrounds can genuinely make a home. That means housing that works, services that show up, and community spaces that belong to everyone.
Why I'm the right person for this
I'm not running because I have all the answers. I'm running because I know how to ask the right questions — and how to build the kind of trust that makes real answers possible.
I know this community. I've been part of it in ways that go beyond résumé lines. I've sat in community meetings, volunteered alongside neighbours, organized campaigns and initiatives that had to work in the real world. I know what it takes to get people moving in the same direction.
And I know that the most important thing a city councillor can do is show up — not just for the big public votes, but for the smaller conversations, the ward walkabouts, the community events where the real texture of local life becomes visible.
I will show up.
What I'm asking from you
I'm asking for your vote. But more than that, I'm asking for the chance to earn your trust — over the course of this campaign and, if elected, through the work of actually governing.
Talk to me. Come to an event. Tell me what matters to you and what's not working. My job — whether or not I'm on council — is to listen and to represent that back as clearly and honestly as I can.
North Vancouver is worth fighting for. I'm ready to do that work.
With real respect and genuine commitment,
Three reasons Liam is running.
To make local government feel local again.
City hall should be close to the people it serves. Liam believes in accessible, transparent governance where residents have a genuine voice — not just a public comment slot.
To put practical experience to work for North Van.
Years of public policy work and community organizing aren't just background — they're the reason Liam can hit the ground running, understand the system, and get things done.
To fight for a North Vancouver that works for everyone.
North Van's future depends on it remaining a place where people of different incomes, ages, and backgrounds can build a life. That takes active, committed leadership — and Liam is ready to provide it.
